This is probably like the 20th thread about this but I have an issue with my graphics card and I guess as of now I am looking for what to do next.
I think I have tried everything so far.
ISSUE: when the DVI single link is connected to the GPU I receive 'No Signal' the computer does not detect the GPU at all. The GPU is turned ON and the two fans are running but no signal or hardware is being detected.
The only way I can use my computer is by connecting the DVI to the motherboard (onboard graphics).
From this point, I have tried installing the AMD drivers but I receive "installation failure" I have google'd this countless of times there are several threads here at Tom's hardware and none that solved my issue.
I have disabled the onboard graphics card. I have gone to the BIOS and selected PCIe option, I have updated my BIOS to its latest version. When disabling the ongraphics card, I had to reset the BIOS because no signal was being detected.
I was hoping maybe someone had any other ideas to give me and if it that does not work what should I do next? Is it easy to return the graphics card? do I really have to replace the whole motherboard?
I have two graphics card because I ordered the wrong brand by mistake. In that case, I decided to take out the XFX and use the sapphire brand (same r9 290x) and I still have the same issue. the GPU powers on, the FANS are on but no signal is being projected.
This morning before going to work I tried hooking the HDMI port to my TV and once again I receive no signal. To make sure, I plugged the HDMI to the motherboard instead and then i received signal but never from the 290x.
Then, I thought maybe it is because I have a DVI single link instead of dual link. So I went to search for one but no luck.. I ordered it through Amazon so it can get here tomorrow but I have a feeling that will not work neither but does not hurt to try.
I feel like I have exhausted all my options.
So... with all that said.. any suggestions? Should I contact customer support from Gigabyte and XFX?
My specs are as follows:
XFX Radeon 290x
intel i5-4690
Samsung SSD 120gb
Seagate 1TB
Team elite 8gb ram (1 stick)
EVGA 650W 80+ gold certified
