XIII crash question

I bought XIII at EBGames used for the PC. I installed the game and
everything went fine. However, when I went to play it, I got an Enter
Play CD message. Tried all the CDs that were in the case, but to no
avail.

I went to Ubisoft's website for tech support and found a patch and a
SecureROM patch. I applied both patches and tried to start the game
again. Now I don't get the CD message, but now it just sits on the
loading screen. I never get into the main menu or anything else. It
is really irritating me.

I have tried this on two different AMD machines. I have not tried it
on an Intel machine although that should not matter anymore. Anyone
else have this problem or is it unique.

Probably the copy protection scheme is interfering with your PC. Try a
no-cd patch, frankly it's the first thing I look for when getting a new game
so I don't have to be bothered with swapping out the CD's.

Glad to hear you only paid $2 for it! You might really like the game. It's
pretty cool looking because of the cell animation and the game play is
there. I just didn't like the not having quicksave. You might want to give a
no-cd crack a try, just so you can judge the game for yourself. JLC

IIRC, XIII is one of those titles for which the official patch removes
the copy protection. I've got an AMD system and XIII runs just fine.

I spoke WAY too soon. The SP demo runs just fine on my AMD system.
The full game does not run at all. At. All.

And I am not alone.

Visit the Ubisoft Technical Support Forum for XIII to see just how
complex and varied the problems with running XIII actually are....

I've tried every way I can think of to get the game to run and it
simply won't. Demo still runs beautifully.....
