Hello All,
I am trying to connect a Serial mouse (It is actually a ps2
mouse with a 9 pin ps2->serial converter) to my home PC via the Serial
COM port, I do have a ps2 port on the pc but I need to test using the
serial COM (dont ask), that is the background. Anyway after connecting
the serial mouse to my XP driven pc and I reboot I presumed that XP
would listen for activity on the COM port and try to install a
pointing device driver to that port but nothing is detected. Do I need
to do anything to make this happen ??

cheers, Mark ..

Go to the mouse maker's web site and install the mouse driver (that
supports its use on a serial port).

But surely XP has to detect the mouse (or any device) on the COM port
first, then try to install a driver, I do not think in my circumstance
the device is actually being detected ...
