For gaming some people like Win2000, but I think they would admit it's not always as compatible as Win98 for gaming. Now, with XP being compared to Win2000, as a face lift. How well will XP be for gaming? Will it be compatible like Win98, or if a game doesn't play well on Win2000, will it also not play well on XP?

I have found it to be fine
most people that I have spoken to have said that i doesn't work to well with games but then again they never tried the compatibility mode

If the games doesn't work under the XP standard (win2000) the right click on the .exe and change compatibility to 98

bingo the only game i found that doesn't work is driver.

Thanks for the response and info. links. When I can I'll check out XP, just hope it works with UT, since other components might not play well together. Like GForce3, DDR Mobo, Athlon xp

I've tried running NFS5 with Matrox G400 MAX in WinXP together with MS FF Wheel. Besides having problems of games crashing with interesting artworks on the screen, the steering behaved weirdly. If i release the accelerator pedal the car brakes... so i don't have to even use the brake pedal now. calibrating didn't help. oh boy i'm still for windows 98 in gaming.

Well, I would like to update my system. xp 1800-1900, GFrc3, Mobo, ATI card to see if I can get my DDR 760 Mobo to play UT better. Just to name a few. With Toejam31 links it just goes to show, something will work and others won't with xp. It sure doesn't push xp up towards the front for upgrades for me.

Microsoft has given Windows XP it's blessing for gaming (unlike Windows 2000, which Microsoft never claimed was designed for gaming) which means sooner or later most (if not all) of your games will work on XP.
