I have a PC based on an Intel 915GEV motherboard and an Nvidia 7600 dual port video card.

When I press the record button in my recording SW (Cooledit2000 or Roxio Creator) the system crashes BSOD every time.

I have updated both the video drivers and RealtekHD drivers and there is no change.

I am running XP/SP3

Can anyone help?

There may be a 100% free solution here but I can't see it, sorry. I suspect the problem is in the Realtek drivers. Buy or borrow a cheap Sound Blaster card and install Creative's drivers and then try recording.

One more thing: doe sthat BSDO say in which dll or sys file it happened?

If the BSOD goes away too fast and the PC reboots before you can read details, you can configure the PC to stop at BSOD until you push reset. To do that, right-click My Computer in the desktop, select Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery Settings, uncheck "Automatically restart". Do this first, before you bother with a sound card. Try the sound card thing only if this method proves that the Realtek drivers are the problem.

Thanks I'll give that a try, go through a crash :-( and get back to you.

BTW I forgot to mention, I have had this PC for about 3 years and it has only started doing this over the last 3 months or so. Thing is I haven't used the recording function for about 6 months or more prior to that.

I tried the Windows inbuilt recorder that only records 30 second snips, and it crashed too.

The BSOD was brief saying that there was an attempt to execute from non-executable memory and there were a list of addresses.

Stop 0x000000FC(0xF79AFF20, 0x07799963, 0xF79AFE88, 0x00000000) was the only info. :-(
