XP won\'t recognize external hard drive with exFAT

I formatted my external hard drive(80 gb) from NTFS to exFAT on my desktop pc (windows 7). I did this to make it readable on my SONY BRAVIA Tv. Now Sony reads it very well, but my Laptop (windows XP) wont. It allots a drive letter to it but when clicked it, it says drive not formatted.

Hello, & Welcome to Tom's Hardware!

Don't know which version of Win-XP you have, but you have to have SP-2 or SP-3 installed to read exFat.
Not sure but you may also need the 64bit version to read this file format.

You also need this update for it to work with Win-XP, after installing SP-2 or SP-3
