Hi,

Anyone know if the XP2500+ line of Bartons has discontinued production?

One of vendors I regularly check has removed it as a stock item (though still available). This may be due to it's popularity though.

Any info?

No way. They wouldn't discontinue production on such an interesting product. Actually, the Barton 2500 is easily the most popular AMD processor! I don't know what's going on with that vendor of yours...

Thanks,

Was getting nervous. I want one and I intend to get it before it becomes unavailable, unless of course Intel halves the price of its processors.

They won't drop it until they've dropped all the chips below it in the range.. and they are still selling XP1700+ chips....

$hit Happens. I just wish it would happen to someone else for a change.

it sure as hell is the oldest...but now most overclockers are switching over to the barton...easier to cool b/c of a larger die...

Yeah, that CPU sounds great. It is going to be my experiment when it costs $50. I will try to run it in my lovely KT266A mobo to see if it runs ... If not, just reselled. Not a lot of money risked and worth the experience.

the kt266 will only run @ 266mhz fsb...i am sure with some north bridge cooling you could get her stable at 333

Even if I can't get 333 but over 300, that would be ok. My idea is, using DDR 333 (so memory is not the problem) and go as far as northbridge and graphic card allow me. Then, rise multiplier to see what are the final result (in theory and based on Epox specifications, it should be available until x17)

The only problem is BIOS. Not sure it will recognize of, if it don't, if windows will see it as Barton core.

But because of the risk, I want to spend very little money on it (no deep pockets :frown: ). And until now I don't know of anybody who has try it.

the core being recognised does not really matter...your agp should be able to take over 100mhz and your pci about 42-45 depending on the cards you have installed...good luck man...may the force be with you...
