Mark my words, in only a few short years, laws will be enacted to force pornography over to .XXX where it can be more easily filtered (remember, the U.S. government has been trying to force filtering and other regulation on pornography, unsuccessfully, for years). Now that .xxx exists, it's only a matter of time. Go ahead, talk to someone who doesn't frequent technology websites like Tom's. Tell them about the new .xxx and see what they think. I bet that more than 50% of people will think .xxx is where porn MUST live. When they learn it's optional, they'll probably get upset. They'll write their senators, call into radio shows, and get their religious leaders to start protests. Eventually, these people will overwhelm the system, and the laws will be created. People who view pornography as a danger to society have no qualms about denying people their first amendment rights (not until the part about freedom of religion starts getting tampered with).

And don't think I'm shedding a tear for pornography (sure, I'll miss it). I'm more worried about the precedent this sets. What's next, .muslim, .communism, .freespeech? How long before we create, then segregate, then outright abolish other ideas, opinions, works of art, literature, etc.. we have been freely expressing up till now? You might think I'm paranoid, but if you trust the government I think you're a fool.

But world governments didnt want this including the US. So how did ICANN pass this? Start bringing attention to ICANN members how voted yes for this and who didnt vote...
