YAAP -- Link the Male Human Neutral Tourist

Early in the Gnomish mines, I fell down a trap door. I read a magic
mapping scroll so that I could quickly go back upstairs, and waited for
my pet to find me.

I went to Minetown and had my pets clear out the guards. I think I had
2 pets at this time, so I felt that at least one of them would survive
the battle with the watch captain. The watch captain dropped a silver
saber, which is great because it doesn't rust. I went to the bottom of
the mines hitting most the stuff with the silver saber (so I could
level up on sabers). The difficult monsters got hit with my broad
pick. Some monsters got zapped with my camera, so I could run away and
hope my pets would kill them for me.

At the bottom of the mines I collected the gems and luckstone. Then
spent a while trying to throw them at the gray unicorn. After that
adventure was done, my luck was maxed out. I duel wielded the silver
saber with a runed broadsword, which meant I had 2 rust-proof weapons.
Rust-proof weapons are important since I hit way too many rust traps in
the Gnomish Mines.

I saw a pyrolisk. I zapped it with my camera and hoped that blind
pyrolisks can't fiery gaze. They can't.

The big room had some scary monsters, due to them jumping into the
polymorph trap. There was a minotaur, some high level quadraped, and a
couple other scary things. So I zapped all the scary monsters with my
camera, and read a scroll of teleportation (which landed me on the
other side of the level). The scary monsters stumbled around blindly,
while everything else ran across the level toward me. I killed all the
non-scary monsters as they ran toward me, then killed the scary blind
monsters one by one.

The quest had a second silver saber.

Nothing else exciting happened until I got the castle wand of wishing.
Since the fort didn't get generated this game, I took everything to the
Minetown altar for the "ascension preperation". I did the mass
identify (shop IDing takes too long, so I shop ID the identify scroll,
and do one big mass identifying after I get the castle wand). I
polypiled all the magical junk I collected too.

I genocided all "L" and all "h", and wished of the Orb of Fate. I
probably could have beaten the game without losing those two conducts,
but I'm still too scared too go polyless/genoless. There was no way I
could have gone wishless/polyless/genoless, because the game gave me
around 2 scrolls of enchant armor, around 3 scrolls of enchant weapon,
and 0 magic markers.

Nothing exciting happened until the Astral plane. I found a
non-neutral altar, and then realized that the helm of opposite
alignment probably doesn't work very well on neutral characters. I
decided not to use the helm, and the second altar ended up being the
neutral altar.

Not to mention the extra silver damage, though I guess this wasn't too
important at this point.

As detailed on page 1 of the Dungeons of Doom Tour Guidebook.

I did not know that. Makes sense though. [Makes mental note...]

I've found a ?oEarth is also useful for big rooms.

Ok, let's see here... The saber passed a pet-test... The BoH was IDed
by testing it. (Why name the individual item instead of the class of
items though?) The luckstones were IDed because mine's end must not
have had flint or a touchstone... What do the other names mean?

Low point total. Must not have had that many kills? Pretty normal
turn count though.

Nice going!

Not only that, but if you are blind, they cannot use their fiery gaze
against you either. If you think that makes no sense, then consider
the other effect of fiery gaze ... your potions boiling away and your
scrolls going up in flames. Yep, if you are blinded, even your potions
and scrolls are protected from the pyrolisk. It definitely helps to
know this when, say, you get caught by a pyrolisk without all of your
stuff put away, or if you don't have a bag.

"!c" weapons are sometimes IDed by passing a monster test. Sometimes
I'll drop a weapon, lure an intelligent monster to the weapon, and see
if the weapon sticks to the monster's hand when they wield it.

I'm not sure how to name a class of items. I thought 'N'ame was used
on objects, and 'C'all was used on pets/monsters?

"mith DL7 dwarmith DL9 stuff DL9" = elven mithril on gnomish mines
level 7, dwarvish mithril on gnomish mines level 9, stuff (which was a
bunch of weapons, which included a broad pick and a runed broadsword)
on gnomish mines level 9.

"charm monster DL7" = spellbook of charm monster on normal dungeon
level 7. I got this spellbook after the castle wand, but just in case
for some reason I was forgetting the spell by the time I got on the
ascension run... I knew where I stashed the spellbook. I ended up
never using charm monster.

"42805" = prayed on turn 42805

"CC66061" = credit card 66061 = invoked tourist quest artifact on turn
66061

"H" = hard gem. I collect all the hard gems I find so I can throw them
at co-aligned unicorns. I also always keep at least one hard gem so I
can engrave if needed.

Here are some other names that weren't in my final inventory:

"BAR" = wand didn't do anything when I tried to engrave ID it. BAR is
from the "foo, bar, baz" series of random variable names.

"ID" on a potion = potion found on a nymph corpse. Most likely an
object detection potion.

"Blind" on a monster = I sometimes call a monster "Blind" when I zap it
with the camera.

I used a couple of gain level potions. I also never #offered anything,
and I only prayed on an altar once so that I could have holy water.
I'm not sure if that is meaningful, since I never read any score
spoilers.

My Tourists usually spend alot of time in the Gnomish Mines. Since
they have alot of constitution and food, if I get hurt I'll usually dig
myself a sanctuary and wait until I'm fully healed. So my turn count
might get effected from all the wait-healing I do.

Thanks!

#name asks a yes-no question. A yes response gives an
individual item a name (prayed turn 124381). A no
response gives a class to name (gem called black glass)
after a unicorn drops it.

H probably means "hard", from identifying gemstones that way. Beats
me what the key name might mean, or why you would even name a key.

Normal? I thought that looked pretty low. Of my three ascensions,
two were over 120k moves (and I forgot to save the turn count for the
third so I don't know how many it was). Then again, I tend to play in
in a pretty cautious fashion - lots of trips back to my stash(es),
mapping out Gehennom and digging paths, etc.

Like the legendary Bugblatter Beast, pyrolisks assume that if
you can't see them, then they can't see you.

I was expecting Eric the Viking to make this comment.

The Tourist artifact wouldn't let me name it, so i named a key instead.
