I mean, this guy had just got started, had found some interesting rings for
later, had half-decent armour and was making short work of everything on the
first few levels (a successful early surprise encounter with Siegfried meant
I'd got him to L4 before hitting DL3...)

Then a bleedin' orc turns up with a hand axe of electrocution, and neatly
reduces my HP by 29, from 29, in a single stroke. The RNG doesn't hate me.
It loathes me and laughs in my face while stealing my lunch and dating my
girlfriend

You know how it takes lots of sperm to fertilize an egg? Well, Crawl is
like that.

Rather more aggravating at level 4 than at level 1, though.
