Yet another buying guide

Hi,

I just created an account and I'd like to ask you a "what laptop should I buy question" considering the following needs:

- i7 (maybe i5 too)
- up to 16GB possible (up-gradable in the future)
- 14.1''-14.9'' screen with HD+ 1600x900 resolution (important)
- weight aprox: 4.5-5 lbs / around 2-2.5Kg
- HDD/SSD (not important)
- budget (not so important)

My ideas are Lenovo T420s and HP 8460W, but the user reviews of these are quite bad considering their price range +$1,600

Hi radd,

Personally, I have always had Thinkpads; I still have my 770e and it works great so I am personally biased. I think I'll go for the Thinkpad T430s or T420s (I can't find an important difference between them) but I have a question: How is the heating management on your Lenovo. I read that i7s Lenovo heats really fast and stays like that durring booting time etc. I don't want that...

I hope they will ship it to France, I couldn't find a reseller in Paris 🙁

Yes, Lenovo will ship to France as long as you purchase a laptop from their website. It will be shipped from China; and I believe the typical delivery time once the order is placed is 10 - 14 day. Longer if there is a backlog.

I'm not ready to buy a new laptop yet, but Lenovo's upcoming 14" ThinkPad X1 Carbon seems interesting. It's the successor to the 13.3" ThinkPad X1, but it's not expected to be released until the end of summer.
