Hey Guys. I own a 15' MacBook Pro Mid 2010 with a 500gb 5400rpm HDD and running OS X Yosemite. Is 58secs. Boot time and 10secs. Shutdown time good or bad?
Let me know what you think guys. Really appreciate the help.
I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro and upgraded the 5400 RPM drive to an SSD and there is a noticeable difference in boot time. As g-unit1111 said there won't be a noticeable difference between a 5400 and 7200 RPM drive.
How about if i upgraded to 7200rpm with 8mb cache? Any thoughts?
That's not really going to change anything from a 5400 RPM hard drive, you'll still get around the same boot times. SSDs are getting less expensive with each generation and they're very affordable now. If your Macbook can support an SSD like a Samsung 850 Evo or Crucial M550, those would be better choices than another mechanical HD.
