Can someone explain why a keyboard without a number pad is worth $200? Will Toms conduct a review that explains the benefits, if any, of optical sensors versus mechanical keys?
Well first, don't confuse TKL with full-size in terms of price. Yes, a full-size keyboard will cost a little more because of the BOM, but you're paying for the engineering, firmware work, lighting, higher or lower quality components, etc. (And yes, sometimes you pay more for branding...) So having a few fewer keys doesn't mean the price should drop $50 or something.

We have gotten a little bit of hands-on time with the Wooting One in particular. The analog thing is...really cool.
