I'm trying to choose a mobo for my z170 build. I have it narrowed down to the ROG maximus viii hero and the z170 deluxe. The deluxe is almost 100$ more but comes with awesome asus wifi and has 16 power phases vs the hero's 10. I plan on doing a decent overclock so what board would be more reliable in the long run? I noticed the deluxe has 5k caps vs the hero's 10k rated ones....is the deluxe better quality?
(Also I would need to buy a wifi card if i went with the hero so that bumps the price up. I just really need help deciding.
All input is very appreciated. Thank you

Both those motherboards are an overkill if you are going for decent overclocks.

Hero Viii is for extreme overclocking
Deluxe is for the most extreme overclocking...

Hero Viii is for extreme overclocking
Deluxe is for the most extreme overclocking for people who are targetting international standard records.

If you are actually going for very high overclocks stick with the Hero Viii and get this excellent wifi card. It will work great with your motherboard and will provide excellent wifi.

Honestly, Asus Z170 PRO GAMING is more than what you need. Get that and the excellent wifi network card and you will be getting what you need and the performance.

You can use the extra money for a SSD or a better GPU.

The HERO also has a better audio solution (see Asus site).

*As said though money can be put towards a better GPU or whatever... it really depends on your TOTAL BUDGET so the question is hard to answer.

If you can afford a great GPU already like GTX970 or better then by all means get the Hero if you want. If you had a GTX960 that's an upgrade to a GTX970 or with a GTX980 that's a big chunk of the cost to get a GTX980Ti instead (roughly $150USD more).
