Z170 for gaming, moderate OCing, and future VR

So, there is a huge plethora of motherboards for Z170 (1151) and its really hard to chose one. They all have great features, some more than others. As my title says, I want to be able to overclock, but I am not a extremist overclocker, moderate works. I game, so I want the best gaming performance. I also would like to use VR, whether its oculist rift, or Vive, I need to have the appropriate amount UBS 3.0 slots, etc. Also, I don't want to spend $400+ on a Mobo. I don't need the cheapest, I don't care how cool it looks, my case doesn't have a window. I need it to work, end of story. So, any suggestions?

My suggestion is to go with the Asus Z170-A motherboard which is a good middle range motherboard

I like the Asus Z170-A also, or the Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 3/5/ Both feature packed and support XFire and SLI. Use the MX versions if you need a microATX motherboard.

List out what features you want/need and find the cheapest board with them from one of the good brands like Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, they all overclock well and will meet your needs

Take a look at the asus z170-a, it has all the features you need and it's a pretty solid motherboard

The Asus Z170-A is good as is their Pro Gaming, a little higher up is the Hero (which I went with, in sig) 😉

Great mobo, love it! I've thrown a ton at mine and just keeps purring, a number of sets of DRAM, 8 GPUs (including 980s in SLI and 290Xs in Xfire), multiple CPU coolers, etc

well, there may not have much can do with VR with Motherboard,
