Got a Z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard and i7 6700 @ 4.00 GHz with a Gigabyte GTX 980 and when playing GPU 'intense' applications I noticed that the GPU makes a buzzing sound when under 'heavy' load.
I also tried switching PCI-e slots and the GPU to a GeForce GT 545 (which doesn't require PSU pin connectors) and that makes the same buzzing noise when under 'heavy' load.
When playing with the same GPUs (Gigabyte GTX 980 or GeForce GT 545), on the same graphics settings, on a Dell XPS i630 I heard no buzzing sound which leads me to believe that it is something other than the GPU.
Any ideas on what is causing this or how to fix it?
Ok so I just tested the same applications on the same 5:4 75Hz monitor that I used for my i630 and the GPUs made less of a buzzing sound at the same resolutions as when on the 16:9 60Hz monitor.
So either a higher frequency CPU and a higher resolution or lower frequency monitor combined with the GPUs causes the GPUs to make a buzzing noise.
