I read that the new Kaby Lake processors from Intel will only support DDR3 memory and is compatible with USB 2.0

Isn't this actually a downgrade from the Z170 and X99?

intel doesn't generally announce product launches until they're ready to launch a product.

The fact that Kaby Lake is expected to be compatible with the Z100 series chipsets should be a good indicator that they will support DDR4....lol Also the fact that Z200 chipsets will support Skylake processors, which have a DDR3/4 memory controller would serve as proof that Kaby Lake will support DDR4 as well.

It supports DDR3L just like Skylake does now, and yeah it supports USB 2.0 in addition to 3.0+

I don't know where you draw that it doesn't support DDR4 from this the article clearly says it does.

When should the 7770K be available?

I'm in the process of building a two-way SLI GTX 1080 monster gaming rig and am waiting for the next generation of Intel cpu's/motherboards because they are right around the corner.
