Z370-a will not boot. Only cpu led flashes for a second

■ So I bought a new board from new egg. Wouldn't boot. Not posting. Upon inspection discovered bent pins in cup socket. Got a replacement board. This time it started momentarily but this board had led post indicators. The cpu Led flashed for a second. Turned off. Turned on again then turned off. This just cpu board and power supply. All brand new. Brand new ram and power supply. Of course all of this after new egg sold me a banged up case. Dead power supply. And damaged mother board. Is it a stretch to think they sold me a bad cpu? Oh and i tried clearing the bios by unplugging the power and the battery. Anything I havent thought of yet would help. This ordeal with new egg is making me sick. Never in 15 years have I had this kind of problem.

Which CPU do you have? The Z370 board is only compatible with 8th generation CPUs, so if you have a 6th or 7th gen part, it will not work and you will get the exact symptom you see, board briefly comes on, CPU LED comes on, and it shuts off.

Its an Intel i5-6400. So the issue might be you compatibility...yay...ill have to dig into this some more

Yeah, the i5 6400 is not compatible with a Z370 board. You need a 100 or 200 series chipset board eg. Z170 or Z270, or you need an 8th gen CPU eg. Core i5 8400.
