So long story short in nov last year i switched from below mobo cpu and ram.

3700x b450m
To a
z490 msi gaming carbon wifi 10700k
32gb f4-3600c16d-32gtzrc
2070 super
Corsair Rm750w 80 gold
Anyway ever since i switched to intel ive wanted to go at my machine with a hammer.

First problem the auto settings on the z490 are all wrong ram timing, voltage and everything else(could really use some help configuring my mobo to default settings manually).

got bsod for ram and also hard freezes (no loops just a screen shot essentially forcing a hard restart) while playing cpu and gpu intense games.

Ive stress tested everything runs fine higher then average rating.

Since all of this ive got the ram replaced under warranty, set the timings manually (2933mhz 16-19-19-39 1.35v, ram is also comptaible) started working on high gpu cpu intense games, then back to square 1 hard freezes.

I then adjusted the cpu core voltage to 1.25 and vo/io to 1.2,turned turbo boost and enhanced off, same thing worked okay then started hard freezing again, on auto my core voltage was spiking between .7 to 1.15 (on idle) same problem with vo while io was okay

I shouldnt have to do all of these settings with a pnp device its beyond a joke, anyway please help semi noob just wanting my pc to work on base settings, sadge :'(.

default settings are just that, the basic settings defined by the motherboard manufacturer for this platform.
not what your actual memory make\model is designed to be run at.
this has to be initiated by either enabling the XMP profile or manually entering the specs yourself.

to load default settings in the BIOS you would usually go to their exit page and select, "Load Optimized Defaults".
possibly just pressing the F10 key will give the same option.

Did you start this build with a clean Windows install ?

then you should buy a pre-built \ pre-setup system.

there is no way any motherboard manufacturer can tell what exact RAM, CPU, power supply, disks, etc will be connected to any particular motherboard.
so they are all setup with default options in place that will allow basic devices to load with no problem.
it is then up to the user to input all specific device parameters required.
it has always been this way with modern PC components.

the way you describe the issue it sounds like you were expecting a console type experience where you just plug it into the wall and sign-in.

Thanks for your response, unfortunately everything youve said isnt really helpful as it is the default settings on the board that had to be changed as it caused instablity, blue screens and hard freezes forcing me to power cycle the machine.

Just an fyi the z490 is plagued with problems and I have tried multiple instances of trying to fix my own and it never ends

like what exactly?
the problems you've described sound more like you incorrectly entering BIOS options that do not work with your current hardware.

load optimized defaults,
load XMP_1 profile,
manually enter your manufacturer rated CPU specifications,
configure any drive options necessary(M.2, SATA, etc).

anything else should be user preference like over\under-clocking options.

if the system fails to run properly with these basic settings in place then it may be a case of bad hardware.
if it does load and run properly then you can start on your overclocking or tightening of voltages, etc.

Here is one video
View: https://youtu.be/qQ_AETO7Fn4
and there are many other threads that have had the same problem with auto settings on this board, i had no problem with plug and play on my 3700x threw it in ran mint and only had to set ram.

In most cases voltage SHOULD BE LEFT TO DEFAULT, you dont know what you are doing, dont mess with voltage and other stuff, only activate xmp and nothing more, if you have instability in default conditions then it is a warranty case.
Thanks, after speaking to a good friend who is an up to date tech but infortunately lives else where , he has advised to return the product as it is not functioning as intended.
