I'm trying to figure out if my ASUS Prime Z690-A supports NVMe M.2 SSDs. I'm finding the motherboard manual confusing. It lists 4 sockets, and they each have different descriptions. M.2_4 says it supports PCIE 4.0 x4 and SATA mode M key design, type 2242, 2260, 2280.
The manual doesn't say anything about NVMe, and I read that there are both NVMe and SATA M.2 SSDs, and the SATA aren't worth buying because they would run at the same speed as a normal SATA SSD. I want to see if the M.2 SSD I picked out will work with my motherboard, and if I will see any speed increase to make it worth buying.
Motherboard: Prime Z690-A
Current SSD: TeamGroup
New M.2 SSD: TeamGroup
Thanks
