Hi there

I recently built a new PC, using a ASUS Z790-A mobo with an Intel i7 13700k (Bought it before all these issues came to light), 32GB DDR5, GeForce RTX 3070, Samsung 980 1TB M.2 with a Noctua D15 cooler.

But ever since I built it, the Q-LED light is on as pictured, I gather it's for the GPU, but it runs fine? In fact the PC runs fine across the board.

Do you guys have any idea why it's on?

EDIT: I just want to note that sometimes when I boot, the light is not on.

That's the VGA LED, what is the make and model of your PSU? Might want to also check to see if your power connectors are fully seated for your GPU.

You might want to see if there are any BIOS updates pending for your motherboard. If you do have an update, flash to the latest BIOS version, then clear the CMOS once you've verified the BIOS was flashed successfully.

In order to clear the CMOS, disconnect from the wall and display, remove the CMOS battery, press and hold down the power button for 30secs, then replace the battery after

Hi, thanks for the reply!

The PSU is a Corsair RM1000x (Overkill for my current setup, but I am planning on installing a 4090 or 50xx later this year)

My BIOS is updated to version 1661 (Which is the latest version as far as I can tell). I just reseated all the power connections to the GPU both on the card itself and the PSU, but it continues.

I tested a bit further, and I've found that it only lights up if the PC has been turned completely off. If I then restart the PC, it turns off on reboot.

Should I try to clear the CMOS, even if it's the latest BIOS version?

Update:

I think I've figured it out. I'm using a Gigabyte G34WQC monitor through the Display Port on my GPU. When I boot up my PC, I usually just push the button and then leave it and then only turn the monitor on after I come back. So when I reboot it, the monitor is obviously still on, so the signal just goes straight through. Now I've tried turning off my PC completely a couple of times, with the monitor on, and the VGA light never comes on. But as soon as I turn the PC on before the monitor, the VGA light comes on.

Does this sound like it could just be a quirk with the GPU and the monitor?
