Thank you to everyone here. I know if I ever have a problem or question the fine members of TH are here for me. I tried search but to be honest I didn't know how to word it.

So, I built a htpc using a Zotac itx, installed win7 pro 64 (my 1st ever Win 7 install), updated (which took a while) and began tests. All the usb 2/0's died .Zotac gone.
Enter Asrock -

What will happen if I boot my updated Win7 HDD with the Zotac drivers from the Asrock mobo?

Win7 loaded really fast compared to XP 32 biit but the updates took quite a while. I was hoping that since the hardware is missing the Zotac drivers would lay dormant until I remove them. Then I can load the Asrock and GPU drivers. New board will be here today.

This is my build

Solution
You'll end up killing all the kittens. Or the universe will end. Not sure which will happen.
The Zotac board was an impulse buy. After reading about their customer support (or lack there of) and failing to fix the USBs and only having 1 day to return the board I nixed it. So The asrock will be here soon I feel more comfortable with it already. But to answer your question Yes it was running fine. The 2.0's pooped out when I plugged a mouse into a 3.0.
Thankyou for the link But I don't have the Zotac anymore.

So I guess we'll have to wait until day after tomorrow to find out. The really cheap PSU Case combo I bought is just about as wrong as I could have gotten for the Asrock board. With the vid card the psu needed to be taken out or it wouldn't fit. But, that's a moot point because the psu died after less than 8 hours running the Zotac machine. I'll searcg to find out what would cause the psu to not fire up.

The USB 2.0s died after 3 days. The ASROCK was DOA (unless it fried without the psu fan spinning up). RMA'd it. Ordered corsair 430 w from tiger 4 $20 after rebate.

Old psu passed the paperclip test but I'll use it for something else.

I'll never go that route again. go ahead and giggle neon 😛
