So I got a i3 4130 and a gtx 970 and on games my fps is pretty bad on some games, I need help does anyone else get low fps with this card / cpu. I want to know whether getting a new cpu would fix it because alot of people i saw before I bought the card said it worked fine with the i3 and no problems. I have $300 And I dont want to waste money on a new cpu if it wont even get me more fps. I get 40 - 65 fps on low on GTA 5 and around 37 - 63 fps on the max settings. help please! Specs: 8gb ram Zotax GTX 970 i3 4130 1080p monitor

Well Jordan,

To be honest most people on here would recommend to you that you have at least an i5 cpu if intending to use the system to play games with.

An i3, Cpu with a GTX 970 card in the system may be causing a bottle neck or choke point because the cpu can not give enough bandwidth or processing power the card requires and the games you are running.

Games still depend on a good and strong Cpu to be used as much as a high end graphics card in a system.
The amount of system memory you have is fine.

An i3 cpu is by most classed as the baby of the range, and the down side is features like how many caches the cpu has and the size of the cache impacts on how a cpu performs.

If you look at the specifications of an i3 cpu compared to...

If you look at the specifications of an i3 cpu compared to an i5 or and i7 you will see the differences listed in how many levels of cache and the size of each is embedded to each of the range of cpus from an i3 to an i7.

It may not look much but it has a great impact on how a cpu performs as said.

What it means is sadly lowering the resolution of the game, or lowering the visual graphical effects in most games so it`s more fluid for you and you get a better frame rate also.

So you think me getting a decent i5 - i7 would get me to the 60 fpsish range in most games?

Yea, im looking to buy a new case and a i5 4690k or 4670k tomorrow when the stores arent closed for new years, I really hope it fixes my problem in most games, any i5 you would recommend?
