Question 2011 Nissan Ultima Smoking Badly

A good friend of mine and me finally got his car to start (after it had been stolen and screwed up) and it's doing something like this.

Its smoking very badly out from the exhaust, and it had started smoking from inside the engine. I heard it was because of a bad head gasket, which we tried to get to but we almost dropped the engine out so we stopped, could it be true or not?
