Recently, I've been contemplating building a setup mainly to be used as a gaming rig.

I would love to read your thoughts on the following:

Processor: i5 1440f
Motherboard: B760 Gaming X (open to alternatives)
RAM: DDR4 8x2
SSD: NVMe M.2 SSD
Case: Anubis Mesh Pro or gigabyte c301
GPU: 4070ti Aorus Elite
PSU: still undecided whether gold or just a 750w bronze

F-suffix means that CPU doesn't have iGPU in it. With this, i suggest that you get i5-14400 instead. While iGPU is rarely used, but when something should happen to your dedicated GPU, iGPU is a godsend, since you can then hook monitor to MoBo and continue using the PC (except gaming). Also, having iGPU is easy way to troubleshoot if issue is with your dedicated GPU. So, for 30 bucks the i5-14400 costs more than i5-14400F, it is well worth it.

NEVER cheap out on a PSU. Since PSU powers everything, it is the most important component inside the PC. Also, don't pick the PSU by the efficiency (Gold, Bronze), since efficiency has 0 to do with build quality.

If you can afford RTX 4070 Ti, you can afford a good quality PSU as well.

Good PSUs to go for, are: Seasonic Focus/Vertex/PRIME, Corsair RMx/RMi/HXi/AXi, Super Flower Leadex Gold/Platinum/Titanium, in 750W range.

Pcpp Super Flower: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/mQDkcf,kz7p99,s8VmP6/

(All 3x of my PCs are also powered by Seasonic. Full specs with pics in my sig.)

Case: Anubis Mesh Pro or gigabyte c301
Choosing a PC case is personal choice and pick the one you like the most.

Psu....shop for a 750w or bigger unit with at least a 7 yr warranty longer won't hurt when you find something read the reviews.

You might also want to toss atx 3.0 into the mix.

Thank you, Aeacus, for this. I'll go for the non-F version and a proper PSU.

Another way you can go as well on this. Take a look at the 12600k. You can pick those up for about 160, you will need a cooler but it should run as fast as the 14400 maybe a bit quicker. Also on Newegg as of a week or two ago you could pick up nice z690 boards for $120-130.

z690 boards should be able to update the bios where you can get a 14th gen i7 down the road if you wanted. The 14400 is fine I’m sure but just might be worth looking at.

For example

12600k 175(the kf is the one for 160 I apologize)

AsRock z690 board 125 though I saw one for 120.

This is the cooler I’m running, I’m actually using the white one with rgb.

Thank you, Ohio_buckeye, unfortunately, where Iive I won't be able to get those deals. But I'll definitely give the 12600k a look.
