[SOLVED] ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E - USB 3.0 ports not working

Doing some more research, it seems there might be some compatibility issues. Case has USB 3.0 front panel. MB has USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 3.2 Gen 2. And it seems these are not compatible with the USB 3.0. Looks like I might need some kind of an adapter?

[SOLVED] ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E - USB 3.0 ports not working

Unfortunately, that's the problem - my other case is 10+ years old (no USB 3.0) and this is the only AM4 motherboard I have. I was hoping to figure out some way, kinda like the "paper clip" test for a PSU.

[SOLVED] ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E - USB 3.0 ports not working

I assembled a new PC with the X570-E GAMING motherboard. But if I connect one or both of the two USB 3.0 front panel connectors to the MB, the PC won't start. Not even the PSU fan will come on. If I remove the USB 3.0 connectors, the PC starts. The BIOS is the latest. Are the USB ports just...

Question Ryzen 9 5900X with ROG Strix X570-E Gaming - new PC build does not start - red LED keeps blinking

I tried one other thing based on a review by someone on this motherboard's Amazon product page. I disconnected the front panel USB-3 connector cable from the motherboard. I pressed the power button and just like that it came on - PSU fan started spinning, STRIX logo LED turned on. Now I need to...

Question Ryzen 9 5900X with ROG Strix X570-E Gaming - new PC build does not start - red LED keeps blinking

I think you got it. In addition to the main 24 pin connector, there are 1x4 and 1x8 slots on the MB but I only have 1x8 from the PSU. I read conflicting reports about if that 1x4 is needed or not. But, as you say, given that it's a Ryzen 9, looks like I'm going to need a different PSU with all...

Question Ryzen 9 5900X with ROG Strix X570-E Gaming - new PC build does not start - red LED keeps blinking

Darn. You are right. I didn't know you had to have a GPU for the 5900X. (Been 5 years since I built a PC and assumed all CPUs come with graphics.) I pulled out an XFX R7750 GPU from my other currently working PC and put it in. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/xfx-hd-7750-2-gb.b857# But...
