    It is a 64 bit os. And it is the stock ram. And I have tried switching around the dimms, so I assume some of the dimms are probably dead.

    So, my dell inspiron 545s has 6.00 gb of ram installed, and in bios it says only 1.78gb are usable, yet when i check resource manager; it says that i have 2.18gb installed? i have tried disabling max ram in msconfig, nothing seems to work. please help.

    If i remember correctly it's just an MSI 790GX-G65 board that probably needs replacing too. so ill probably end up just getting an i3 whenever i get the money, but i need a cheap replacement for the time being.

    My AMD Athlon ii x2 640 died a while ago, but i found an E7400 laying around, and im not sure it's really that good, so should i spend some extra money on another AMD cpu or just use the E7400 and save some money?
