CPU recently died, but i have an E7400 laying around, will it bottleneck my 7790?

My AMD Athlon ii x2 640 died a while ago, but i found an E7400 laying around, and im not sure it's really that good, so should i spend some extra money on another AMD cpu or just use the E7400 and save some money?

They do not fit the same boards so maybe you need another CPU!

Haha, i know they dont fit the same boards. I have my old intel 775 board too

You should REALLY get a new CPU, Not only would you get an increase in performance, you wouldn't have to buy a new board, Something like a
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-hde00zfbgrbox will preform much better in the same socket as well.

BTW You can use both AM3 and AM3+ in an AM3 Mobo

If i remember correctly it's just an MSI 790GX-G65 board that probably needs replacing too. so ill probably end up just getting an i3 whenever i get the money, but i need a cheap replacement for the time being.

Don't have it anymore as I have a i7-5960X but its a great budget board.

I've heard great things about ASRock boards but like i said i dont need anything special i just need a cheap replacement for now,
