Try reseating your CPU, applying fresh thermal paste, and cleaning out your case. I was getting 2-3 freezes a day and haven't gotten any since I did that. Also, a technician told me swapping out the ram usually fixes this problem, and if it's a motherboard issue there will usually be blue...

I haven't had any freezes since I resat my CPU about a week ago. I also just switched out the ram. I'll update if I get more freezes.

I'm starting to think it's the motherboard. I have some controller errors in event viewer now, and twice when plugging something in my PC last month the computer shut off. I have sufficient wattage, so something might be off with the board. Gonna do some Asus updates and see if the controller...

Corsair, it says that in the description, and no the problem's not the PSU. Had the same problem with a different PSU. No freezes during any of the stress test.

Too bad switching out the motherboard is harder than switching out the CPU. Plus you've gotta reinstall Windows.

You need to stop telling me what to do. The question in this thread was is Intel's Processor Diagnostic reliable.

I don't have another motherboard that is i7 compatible, or access to one.

Run memtest for the ram and check your cpu temps.

Have you tried reapplying thermal paste? 80C is way high.

Having the same problem here. Upgraded my PSU to fix it, but it started freezing again a month later. This is probably a motherboard problem.

No repair shop's gonna give me their motherboard or i7 cpu to take home with me, i'd have to buy one. If my problems the CPU or board it'll have to be replaced.
