As it turns out, I didn't have to find out if it works. I sold the Bose speakers and the customer didn't need to see if they worked or not!! Thanks for the help people....

My desktop PC has a separate "green" plug on the front for speakers. That's where I plugged the Bose speakers into to test them.

The laptop has Bluetooth. How does that work with these old speakers? I don't think the speakers have Bluetooth capabilities. I'm not too familiar with using Bluetooth although I do use it for my headphones with the laptop.

I purchased this cable, plugged it in, connected the Dell 24" monitor and I'm on my way!! Thanks a bunch for pointing the USB-C port out to me. I didn't realize it could add another monitor through that connection. Much appreciated. EDIT: Moderators can mark this thread "Solved".
