no it doesnt need external power. I was afraid that the 750ti might be broken because it came from a broken motherboard, and past motherboard broke because it has a broken transistor near the PCI e where the gpu is located, and i tried to ran it back then.

well i really dont know yet if my drive have bad sectors i just assumed based on something i read that says that even new hard drives already have bad sectors out of the factory.

like i said my drive is not failing. i just want to do this as a preventative. and i dont have access on another drive.
