Hi, So, humbling myself first.. This is my first Intel build and it is very possible that I installed my CPU backwards and forced the clasp closed the first time I installed this CPU. I've tried 2 boards Asus Prime z270-ar and now this one Asus ROG Hero Maximus IX 2 different power supplies...

I think I found the problem. I think the heatsink is touching the RAM or something else and causing it to short. I will never buy a huge CPU Heatsink again. I will be able to test this theory later today after I get a new Heatskink. The Noctua nh-d14 is just too large even for a full ATX board.

I decided to return the Power Supply. I got a completely different brand and same issue, so it is the board or a short somewhere on it or just a config jumper/bios.. I will be opening a ticket with ASUS on this. OLD Evga 850 G2 Gold NEW Corsair RM850X

The CPU fan spins in the beggining when i turn on the board for 1 second and then stops. It also spins again when I press the turn off switch on the PSU.

OK, I took everything off the board except the CPU and CPU Heatsink. I even unscrewed the m.2 ssd that was plugged in. The only items involved that are on my desk are: MB CPU CPU Heatsink EVGA Power supply. 40pin and 4+4 cpu are plugged into the board.

So, all my parts except video card (which worked 5 minutes before I yanked it from another system are brand new. I have built many systems in the past but I am stumped on this one. I have read other threads and see that BIOS issues with this board are not uncommon. But I have 0604 which is a...
