I am an idiot and had a fundamental misunderstanding of how this battery is built. I thought it was a battery inside of some sort of insulated case, but no that was the whole battery and i shorted it.

Thanks for your input. It seem be that due to the nature of the problem, and after testing most of my components, that it is a motherboard issue. I'm 90% sure about this. The issue is that no one sells Z97 motherboards anymore, at least for a reasonable price
