News Intel's Core i9-14900K Delidded: 12C Temperature Reduction

I think Edzieba was thinking of mishandling by ham fisted users/installers rather than transit damage caused by would be Fed-X slam dunkers.

Question ryzen 9 7950x and rtx 4060ti bottleneck

What monitor will you be using and will you upgrade it in the near future? That little 4060 ( you DID type that correctly, right? ) will just about do at 1080 ( HD ) rez but, even with DLSS it has a short future, for gaming you need to really aim higher. For pure gaming the 7950X is a terrible...

News Intel's Core i9-14900K Delidded: 12C Temperature Reduction

Direct die is probably a bit much for all but the most advanced people out there but it's been proven time and again that delidding cuts temperatures and power consumption. All I'm suggesting is that possibly, they may need to go back to leaving that IHS off altogether, after all GPUs' have...

News Intel's Core i9-14900K Delidded: 12C Temperature Reduction

Possibly, but don't forget CPUs used to come without a heatspreader. The larger, more complex parts made now may very well be too vulnerable to damage to be suppled ' bare ' but if that was the case, why can so many seemingly delid and direct die cool?

News Intel's Core i9-14900K Delidded: 12C Temperature Reduction

Been wondering why they have n't tried this. Years ago most CPUs came without a heatspreader, maybe it's time to go back?

[SOLVED] I was wondering if I should start building a new PC or wait

What will you be doing with the new system? If it's mainly workstation then what software do you use? This is CRITICAL, some software runs best off an Intel based system, some will benefit significantly from the massive core/thread counts available to a Threadripper based setup. And whatever...

[SOLVED] Need help picking a Tier 1 PSU

And also from here: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/631048-psu-tier-list-updated/ Not all parts will be available in your location and prices vary according to supplier, try looking through this site: https://pcpartpicker.com/ they're pretty good but do tend to miss special deals.

[SOLVED] Building a new PC - first time SSD owner

It's not such a dumb question. One way is to do this: https://www.intowindows.com/how-to-change-default-install-location-of-apps-in-windows-10/ You will always be able to specify another drive during the actual install process, though, the above just makes your HDD the default install drive, not...

    [SOLVED] strange boot behaviour

A little stumped ATM. The system runs just fine, when it boots. Moe often than not it will not boot by just pressing the case button, it simply stays inert. Flicking the PSU power switch has no effect but, if I remove and then reconnect the power lead, the system starts, just as if I pressed...

Should I sell my pc and buy a new one or upgrade ?

Yep, check the startup menu ( CTRL+ALT+DEL to get into the Task Manager) then open the ' Startup ' tab and disable any programs you don't want running when you are gaming, this will free up memory and CPU resources. Slowdowns under load can be caused by overheating, download and install MSI...

    [SOLVED] Looking to Upgrade

As with most GPU upgrades a lot depends on the monitor specs, that combo will be a little overkill for a 60Hz 1080 screen, pretty ideal at 1440 rez ( regardless of refresh rate ) but the CPU will ( a little ) restrict the GT1070Ti on a fast 1080 display.

Is my pc good enough for streaming.

Agree with WildCard999, a 4 core CPU will struggle to stream gameplay unless the game is light on the CPU or you use a GPU based steaming system like Shadowplay, something like OBS can easily overload the CPU: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/game-streaming-encoding-coffee-lake-ryzen,5326.html

    [SOLVED] Water cooling question.

The kit only contains a radiator, some fittings and 3 fans, you'll need a lot more to get a working loop.

I think my cpu it too hot especially when it’s idle.

FAR too hot. Check the cooler is fully locked down, the locking lever feels flimsy but it does the job well enough, it's fully locked when the lever is parallel with the motherboard surface.
