Motherboard manufacturer and model? Usually BIOS updates only add certain features and or patch bugs in the program. As long as your GPU works now, a new or different GPU will work the same. I swap out parts all the time, and as long as Windows has the drivers, it's happy. Hope this helps!

Have you checked your processes that are taking up your CPU? Your PC may still be downloading and installing updates and patches since it's a new install.
