    r9 270x asus Black screen

    1. Have you connected the 8-pin (or 2x4-pin) ATX power cable to the motherboard? The slot is usually located just above the CPU socket. 2. Have you connected the two (2) PCI-E power cables to the graphics card? If you have, try another DVI/HDMI-slot. I had the same problem too, but switching...

    GPU and PCI-E splitters

I have a R9 270X and a 600W power supply with 6-pin PCI-E cables with splitters that read 'SLI ready'. My card needs two 6-pin connectors. Can I use this cable + splitter to power a single card, or should I use two separate PCI-E connectors?

Any heatsink comparable to hyper 212 in value?

Thermalright True Spirit 120M BW rev A, hands down. Same performance, but a bit cheaper.

Decide the case fan placement for me! (4 fans)

I have a case with 8 fan slots (2 side, 2 front, 2 top, 1 rear, 1 bottom), all 120mm. I have 2 BitFenix Spectres installed (front intake and rear exhaust) and just got a new pair of them, so I have 4 in total. How would YOU install the remaining 2 fans?

High cpu temps after a major overheat

EDIT: Glad you got it fixed. :)

Core 2 Quad and Geforce 560 TI

I'd underclock the memory to 667 (you'll be overclocking the memory too when you raise the FSB) and then give the CPU a 400MHz overclock first. Go for higher clocks if your temps look good and you're stable as a rock. You might need to play with the voltages tho. Take note, that you need to...

    i7 3930k cooling

Yes, it will most likely idle under 30c. Can't guarantee a full-load temp under 50c as I have no idea how hot those chips get. You might also want to take a look at Thermalright's True Spirit 120M BW rev.A. Same performance, but a bit cheaper. Oh, and VERY quiet.

Core 2 Quad and Geforce 560 TI

Alright, cooling looks fine. The Q6600s are usually good chips for sure, usually achieving a 1GHz overclock easily. You just need to make sure your RAM is up to par and your motherboard will supply enough power to the CPU.

Core 2 Quad and Geforce 560 TI

It depends on what cooler you have - I wouldn't do any kind of overclocking with the stock cooler. I had a Core2Duo E8400 and could do a +700MHz overclock without voltage changes easily with an aftermarket cooler. However, the performance increase was marginal. DayZ is a very CPU-heavy game -...

    CPU cooler fan question

I once had a custom heat sink fan attached with a string that I tied between the heat sink blades. Not sure I can recommend doing that, but it definitely worked like a charm. :D

    Haswell i5-4670K 4.0GHz to 4.2GHz - worth it?

Here's a little performance/temps spreadsheet I made for both stock and overclock settings. I think I'll go with the 4.0GHz OC, since I would be sacrificing 15% of temps for a marginal 4% performance gain. Thanks for the help! EDIT: Last line in 'Speed comparison' should be "Set 2 runs 4%...

    Haswell i5-4670K 4.0GHz to 4.2GHz - worth it?

Thermalright TRUE Spirit 120M(BW) Rev.A. Max temp @4.0GHz is <70c, @4.2GHz it may be over 80c. Will I even notice an FPS boost with a +200MHz bump in the OC?

    Haswell i5-4670K 4.0GHz to 4.2GHz - worth it?

I ran some tests and benchmarks with 4.0GHz and 4.2GHz OCs. The 4.2 OC is just 4% faster than the first one, but runs over 10 degrees hotter. Is it really worth it to push it to 4.2GHz, if all I do is gaming?

Intel God's "Quick & Dirty" OC Guide to 4.4Ghz with Haswell

What do you guys think about ASRock's optimized OC presets? I'm getting rock-solid stability with them - i5-4670K @ 4.4 GHz, temps max 70c per core. Tflops only at 63 per test atm, but I must try nagasama's tip and install SP1. Are these presets safe, or do they have the bad habit of...
