Possible dumb question, but does the single DVI port on the 1070 support dual link for 120/144Hz? I'm only asking this because if I use the similar looking port on my 980, it will not allow 144hz.

Sounds about right, my GTX 980 gets about the same, maybe a little better. The 1060 is equal or slightly weaker then the 980.

Unless you want to starting doing it as more of a hobby, its really not worth it to be honest. Air cooling has improved a lot and is much easier to setup and manage, plus you don't have to worry about leaks. Sure custom loops may run cooler but the effort and money put into it is not worth it IMO.

Yea if you're playing at 1080p and only getting that fps on a GTX 960 something is very wrong. Really the 960 should be capable of running BF4 at Ultra or very close to ultra (AA down) at above 60fps

If I were in your shoes I'd take the cooler off and physically inspect the whole card. Look for any popped capacitors. Unless the overclock is still somehow getting applied, it sounds like its more of an issue with the hardware.

Sounds like you're having a memory leak somewhere, after the stress test fails sit at the desktop with minimal applications open and look at your ram usage. I'd also take a look at temps during and after the stress test.

I'd definitely try a fresh install of drivers using an application like DDU, if that doesn't work you may have fried the GPU. Exactly what model 390x is it?

1070 would definitely be better. However the 980 is still a good card for 1440p.

the 4690k should have no issues paired with a single 970. Make sure you don't have any other programs hogging the CPU.

For 4k the 1070's in sli would outperform the 1080. Although from benchmarks I've seen it seems like the 1080 holds up pretty well with 4k.

Really though, a single 980ti should still be eating 1440p for breakfast. It's still a very fast card...
