To be honest I would hold back a bit on buying another 980 ti card if it`s not a must.

I would wait to see what other company, or brand makers of the new 1080 ti range of cards bring out in custom cooling solutions, and just how much better the 1080 ti range of cards will be in performance.

Also the price of a 980 ti card is bound to drop once they shuffle in the 1080 ti card along with the 1080 Gtx.
And the 1070 range of cards due soon from Nivdia and board partners.

I dare say two 980 ti cards in SLI may still outperform or be pretty close to a 1080 ti single card if not better in some ways, and if the price is Dropped on the current 980 ti range it`s a win.
I'd suggest simply waiting until the 1080 launches. The 980ti will drop in price (by my estimate) quite significantly, and you'll be getting a little more bang for your buck. If you don't see the 980ti dropping in price by this summer, I'd wait for the 1080ti. Buying a 980ti at it's current price would seem foolish with 1080 on the horizon.

Whether you wait or not for the 1080ti or not, you should at the very least wait until May 27th for the 1080 to launch. At least then you'll have a chance of picking up a 980ti cheaper than usual.

If you are upgrading may as well just wait.

Or get Sli 1080s, you can sell your 980Ti for near the price of a 1080, it is quite possible.

I've sold graphics for nearly retail price. For instance I had a 970 that I sold for $330.00 when I got it for $250, and this was used. And this wasn't the only occasion.

Or hold off and do get a 1080ti, which my predictions say it will be out by the end of the year more than likely, possible September release judging by how Nvidia has been releasing cards the past few years. And even then you could fetch a pretty good penny for that 980ti still.

If you aren't shy of selling on eBay and foreign buyers - they usually pay a lot and eBay will handle international shipping, its a very good bet.

I doubt it will drop significantly, if the 980/970s didn't drop when 980ti, and still have barely had price drops a year and a half later, the drop won't be much. They'll just get discontinued but still float near that cusp.

Yes, but the 1080 is on average 30% faster than the 980ti, while the 980 was only 20% faster than the 970. Given that the 1070 will be more powerful than the Titan X, and therefor more powerful than 980ti at $379 MSRP, I'm guessing there will be a bigger drop than we've seen in the past.

It seems a lot of the more recent gaming engines are holding out for DX12 and not implementing SLI or Crossfire (alternate frame rendering). So a Maxwell SLI setup might not get you want you want in the near future. Pascal might not either.

If you have a 980ti now and are satisfied with the performance, just keep it.

The used market might be the best place to pick up a 980ti though, should be thousands of them hitting the market now and in a few weeks.

Anyone want to buy a 980?

sli sucks. I have two 760's and I will never sli again. Too much crap to deal with with drivers and sli profiles and whatnot, just wait for the 1080 then get a 1080 ti... the way things are going I think sli is going to be phased out soon. As for me, after having an sli setup, from this point forward I'd rather just have a single top tier GPU

Simply not true. Regardless of the performance increase this won't happen. As with every previous card it will simply be discontinued and harder to find, but still hold strong to its price point.

Even though a 970 is neck and neck to a 780ti they are extremely close in price range being used. Even though the 970 is newer tech and slightly beats the 780ti in terms of specs and VRAM. And this is competing between a nearly 3 year old card 780Ti and a nearly 2 year old card 970.

The exact same with previous generations of cards.

As I said my suggestion is sell the card whenever, but do not Sli. Either opt for a single 1080 when it does release or wait for a 1080Ti.

Again, I have the actual experience of buying and selling components and you can get pretty high selling and buying prices.
