I would assume you would be able to throw a new graphics card in there. I would make sure you have enough power, 280W isnt much. It should run a 750Ti if its decent enough but I wouldnt trust it personally.

I agree with coozie7. The Q6600, while old, is still a capable processor. I am currently using one now (with SLI GTS250's) and it has run every game I have thrown at it. It would be more worthwhile to upgrade the graphics card with the money you have rather than try to do a whole system upgrade...

What are the specifications of the computer you are using? It sounds like above, that your power supply cannot support enough power to the components.

Which graphics card are you installing? I must have missed it. You might need to upgrade the power supply to run a more powerful graphics card. I have a similar processor and it can run modern games great, so you shouldnt need that much of an upgrade.

That is not a power supply that I would choose for such a nice expensive card. Choose one on that list posted above that is higher up.

It might also just be the game's coding. Some games dont have great coding, and Planetside 2 is kind of one of them. GTAIV is a classic example of a poorly ported or coded game, it even struggles on the highest end systems.

You shouldnt be bottlenecking on that. If you really want to upgrade get the R9, but it should still be playing games just fine.
