Question Low Memory and Pagefile error out of the blue ?

I'd hoped this was a one-off, but it happened again. When I hit the Task Manager hotkey, it brought up the limited memory window like before, but total utilization was <60%. Only Chrome and Afterburner were open (no oc), error hit when a game started. I have backups. I've had that drilled...

Question Low Memory and Pagefile error out of the blue ?

So I just had a terrifying moment when Windows started stuttering and Chrome started to hang, Pop up Ctrl+SHIFT+ESC and instead of being greeted by the ordinary set of tabs, I'm only shown a "LOW MEMORY" banner and a handful of processes, with only their RAM consumption shown (44% in use). By...

[SOLVED] System POSTs but no video output, have tried different cards and cables ?

I've now swapped motherboards, RAM, and GPU. In all cases, the system looks like it's posted but there's no video output from any of the ports on either card, or on the new motherboard's DVI slot (though I didn't expect anything there).

Question New PC won't turn on / POST ?

Have you tried starting the computer with only CPU and RAM installed, while it is outside the case? Does the Q-Code display at the bottom of the board show anything? Have you changed the CMOS battery?

[SOLVED] System POSTs but no video output, have tried different cards and cables ?

Thank you for your response. The CMOS battery was brand new, and works in another device. All components used here were parts from a previous build. I upgraded parts over time and kept the original parts for diagnostic purposes. Mobo, RAM, and CPU were the last to go. I now have all the spares...

[SOLVED] System POSTs but no video output, have tried different cards and cables ?

Hi guys, I decided to put together a mining rig with my old components, stuff I had upgraded out of but which, to my knowledge, still worked. These are: Motherboard: Gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud3 Rev. 1.0 CPU: AMD FX-8350 1 Stick RAM, DDR3 8GB 1600 MHz cl11 A 256GB SATA SSD. The plan was to buy a...

That's a shame. Thanks for the tip, you just saved me some money :)

[SOLVED] How to use a remote to control a TV

Hi everyone! Sorry for the clickbaitie title - I couldn't figure out how to summarize my query. My setup is a monitor at my workstation, but also extended onto a "dumb" TV on the other side of the room, with a Miracast dongle plugged in on that side. My question: can I use an IR remote to...

    [SOLVED] Disk Cloning and Spanning

When only the M.2 is plugged in, that's the only boot option, and it presents as itself, without mention of boot manager. When either the other SSD or both drives are plugged in, only the (old) SSD shows as an option, and it actually appears twice - both as "Windows Boot Manager (P1...

    [SOLVED] Disk Cloning and Spanning

Okay, slight hangup; The clone went fine, and the computer booted to the M.2 just fine when it was the only drive in. When I tried to boot with both the M.2 and the other SSD plugged in, it boots from the old SSD, and while BIOS reads the M.2, it doesn't present as a boot option. Booting from...

    [SOLVED] Disk Cloning and Spanning

Yes, that's the idea. Put the Windows installation on the M.2 and use drive it was on for games/general storage. Is that likely to cause an issue?

    [SOLVED] Disk Cloning and Spanning

One question: the M.2 won't be using the SATA port that the current boot drive is. Is it enough to have all drives other than the M.2 disconnected?

    [SOLVED] Disk Cloning and Spanning

I was planning to use EaseUS to shrink the C: partition enough to allow it and everything else on that drive to be cloned to the new, smaller SSD, then clear that 2TB drive and append it to F:. Unless only the C: volume needs to be cloned, and not the whole drive? I'm getting the impression...

    [SOLVED] Disk Cloning and Spanning

Sure, but with all my data on one drive as it is now, if that drive fails the data is gone anyways. I understand that that may be more dangerous down the line, and it's not necessary I guess. I do still want to move my Windows install to its own drive, though. I like having things nicely...

    [SOLVED] Disk Cloning and Spanning

The boot drive has my Windows installation with all its doodads, all drivers, and a handful of programs - mostly tools and diagnostic programs. It all comes out to around 187 GB, and I want to transplant that onto the new 250 GB M.2 drive. The other drive is exclusively game and client...
