Your 7600K will not be a bottleneck. If your GPU can produce 180 fps on whatever game you are playing then you should be fine. To change my refresh rate I just change it in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Hmm. I have the same monitor. DVI-D cable. I use chrome and on the UFO test (which I assume you're using) it shows 144Hz. If you have other things playing/using GPU in the background it can cause stutter but it should still show 144Hz.

I too wondered this. I think DisplayPort has more bandwidth but realistically speaking if you only have a DVI cable there isn't any point in buying a DP cable. Unless of course you're running a very high resolution.
