you need a DC/DC converter. most have a range input, like 18-75Vdc in. some have an adjustable voltage out, 12Vdc +/-5Vdc. depending on wattage they can range from a few dollars to a few hundred.

Somewhere in your house is a junction box, where the cable from outside splits to your rooms. In that box you should see several conductors striped and tied to pins. Here the metal will be visible.

are you sharing folders? have you unplugged the LAN cable? unplug the mouse/keyboard? what is your definition of sleep? (screensaver, low power state, hibernate?) you may have WOL off, but if your NIC isnt sleeping it may still recieve and respond to requests, like shared resorces. same thing...

looks like your rename syntax is wrong. you may have to copy then rename. also you can add lines like "date /t >>c:\backuplog.txt" and "time /t >>C:\backuplog.txt" to see what is happening when. to see if its running a command again or just logging it again. the "everything is ok" is just 7zip...

we would need the batch file and log file contents. and your windows versions and service pack information (first few lines of system summery in msinfo32). be mindful of private information your sending.

then it probably is just scratches, and nothing to worry about. that standoff issue may have forced you to maneuver awkwardly and/or apply additional force. without that tab, or if the motherboard didn't have the rigid shielding over the i/o ports, it probably would have slid in like an oiled pig.

depending on the pin that broke, you may not have front usb, one port may not work, one port will not have 5v, or both will not have 5v. or you broke the redundant gnd pin and everything is fine.

since very few motherboards ever had a coating, what your situation sujests, i would like to know your make and model. whether its new or used. and a picture would help too. i cannot view most photosharing sites at work, but i expect that someone here can an would know what they are looking at...
