QLC should be mentioned. Its has MUCH lower write endurance / lifespan than the others. Its cheaper and for read intensive uses its fine, but for heavy write applications its not a good choice.

I wondered why my PC takes a little while to shut down, then i noticed i can hear my HDDs spin up during the shutdown sequence. (They have turned off/spun down due to inactivity) Thats the delay! The system is waiting for sleeping HDDs to activate and reach speed so it can then power down...

If its not the HDDs, then check fans - Case, PSU, GPU There should be no other moving parts in system. i.e. to produce a 'grinding' sound. oh any water cooling? pumps. Like Steve says, stick your ear hole close up with side panel open.

Bizarre, im curious as to what it is then. (as im sure on a 500gb drive 453mb would not be reported as used). Maybe it is just a type of rounding error and a false report Anyway youre right that given the capacity its nothing to worry about. Thanks again for your help!

Concur with Steve. Backup your data now(!), if you havent already, and replace drive as soon as you can.

Got it. Correct if wrong - Based on size of drive, the blank holding area increases due to some ratio (like auto recycle bin settings does). e.g. if new drive is 2TB, the 'used space' would be reported as being much smaller.

I know it should be there, I just un-hid system files to see why the report of 453MB used space. But why is 453MB being reported as used? Free space is same as capacity (10.9TB). Used should be ~ 0

Yep, I just did this with replacing a secondary 1TB SSD drive with a 2TB for games & apps. Just copied the contents to another drive, swapped out the old drive with new and copied contents back. All programs work fine.
