I think I've got it all running smooth now. Powercolor runs around 50C idle Sapphire runs between 45-50C idle.

When running just the Powercolor card, it runs right around 50C at idle.

Well, they way the system is setup, the card is right above the PSU, like maybe 1cm clearance or so. Cable management and airflow is good to that area, though. I can get it to ~63C with manual control of the fan to 100%, still not good.

So I managed to get crossfire running fine, but now I have a new issue. My original card, the Sapphire 6870 toxic, runs @ 45-48C at idle, which is great, but my Powercolor 6870 runs at 67-69C at idle, which seems concerning. I haven't monitored temps under load yet but is the Powercolor indeed...

Those don't seem too bad actually if they're all on ultra. You could try turning the AA from super sample to adaptive multi sample in your control center(not sure of what Nvidia's is called, ATI's is catalyst). That helped my frame rates jump up quite a bit.

So I found out the problem, it was the connections I was trying to use. The cables I had were 6 pin to 6 pin, which only fit from the peripheral sata on my PSU. So now I need to find an 8 pin to 6 pin PCI cable, which has I've discovered is near impossible. I assumed it was a common cable and...

Solved the fan issue, still stuck on the blank screen while running my old 1 gpu setup. Edit: Blank screen will go away after a minute or two and computer starts up fine afterward, however it does this now on every startup. Very annoying. Still have the crossfire issue. Seems like it's narrowed...

OK, last question. Can I crossfire two 6870's if one has 2gb of ddr5 and the other has 1gb? And if so, how would that affect the crossfire?

Cool, thanks for the info! Edit: trying to find another sapphire 6870 toxic but they're hard to come by now. Guess I'll have to OC the next 6870.

I was just going to ask, if I crossfire 6870's, would I need the exact same card again, or would any 6870 work?

I'm not looking at a multi display setup, just a single 2560 x 1440 monitor. My current setup is an AMD/ATI rig, though i'm not opposed to getting a nvidia card i'd prefer the comparable ATI card if it's needed.
