So today I got a new radeon hd 6870 to get my system setup for crossfire. When I installed the new card, the computer wouldn't start. There was a little blue zap I guess you would call it by the ram, and the fans would try to start, but fail. When I disconnect power from the new card, the computer starts up, but the top fan doesn't start and I get a blank screen with a blinking white cursor. Any ideas? I'll list the PSU and other specs below, since the PSU would be my first place to start, though it would be odd in this case since it's a 1000W.

BFG Tech 1000W supply; +3.3V max 30A, +5V max 30A, +12V1 max 36A, +12V2 max 36A. Max combined power 1000W.
MSI 890XFA motherboard
AMD Phenom X4 955 3.2Ghz quad core
Sapphire Radeon hd 6870 1GB
PowerColor Radeon hd 6870 1GB
12GB G.Skill DDR3 1600Mhz ram
40GB OCZ vertex 2 SSD
1TB WD caviar black 7200rpm HDD
2 disk drives, one bluray, the other standard dvd
1 monitor, Acer 21.5" 1920x1080

I've tried checking connections and general troubleshooting to get to this point. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Solved the fan issue, still stuck on the blank screen while running my old 1 gpu setup.

Edit: Blank screen will go away after a minute or two and computer starts up fine afterward, however it does this now on every startup. Very annoying. Still have the crossfire issue. Seems like it's narrowed down to either a PSU or GPU problem. Gahh what a fun night :??:

Driver issue seemed to cause the screen problems. Down to just the crossfire issue now.

So I found out the problem, it was the connections I was trying to use. The cables I had were 6 pin to 6 pin, which only fit from the peripheral sata on my PSU. So now I need to find an 8 pin to 6 pin PCI cable, which has I've discovered is near impossible. I assumed it was a common cable and figured it would be easy to get. Nope. Is this something I'll have to order online? I won't be too pleased if this is the case.
