    from my experience it is hard to find a good usb 3 expansion card. is it a pcie x1 or old 32 bit pci? are you using any other pcie slots, like a x16 for the motherboard? are you sure you didn't unplug the usb 2 header that goes to the front case ports? you might have knocked it without knowing...

    3ogdy is right, the noctua lh-9i is only gonna work with intel sockets lga1150, lga1155, lga1156 but most aftermarket coolers are better than stock amd/intel coolers. just get one with a nice big heatsink and a good connection between the surface that meets the cpu and the heatsink fins
