Does anyone know why this system could be laggin'. It's acting really sluggish on boot, slow to open programs, just general delays with all programs and windows. It is far slower than my old Athlon XP 2600.

thanks for your response, i am pretty sure that it is the drive too....the rest of the system and apps. are pretty stable. I'm am using WinXP pro....i ran burnintest on the drive, and it was bringing up reading errors only with DVD's in the drive. the test ran fine with normal CD's, CD-R's...

I used msinfo32.exe to check my IRQ's, none of them are conflicting, just sharing, however, I cannot think of any other reason as to why the mouse is jumpy when the computer is under small loads. Any other ideas?
