Help me pick an ultrawide monitor

I'm pretty sure I know which way I'm going to go on this, but I wanted to get some opinions nonetheless: First my specs: i5 6600k, GTX 1080ti, 16gb ddr4ram. Rig is used exclusively for gaming, sometimes movies but my office isn't really set up for that. Currently playing on a 27" 1440p...

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1000 Series (Pascal) MegaThread: FAQ and Resources

Had my FE 1080 ti in for about a week. Ran through all my benchmarks and then settled on an overclock of +150 core, + 300 memory, and it soundly defeats the 980 SLI setup I had in pretty much every measurable metric. In actual gameplay it blows them away, and with none of the potential issues...

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1000 Series (Pascal) MegaThread: FAQ and Resources

Got lucky on an update from nowinstock and grabbed an EVGA founders edition 1080 ti from newegg - I am beyond stoked. I debated over waiting for one of the board partner cards that were factory overclocked and had the aftermarket coolers but...I went back and compared the overclocked 1080 FE...

Best Gaming Monitor For Single GTX980?

IMHO - 4k is still just a little bit out of reach for the kind of graphical horsepower that's required to drive it vs the upgrade in visual fidelity you actually get. I think 1440p hits the sweet spot between 1080 and 4k if you're looking to play at a higher resolution. I dont know what your...

    triple monitor setup

That's an interesting question - you're talking about going from a curved ultra wide 1440 screen to a flat 1080 screen on each end, albeit on your (extreme) perif. IMO that's a little overkill, and while the vertical screen length on that x34 is going to be close to a 27" monitor, it might not...

GTX 980 SLI - enough horsepower for 5760x1080 gaming?

considering giving a setup like this a shot - currently running dual 980's. Will this be enough to consistently drive 60 fps (in games that support it of course). Secondary question - given that it's an obviously bigger resolution than the current 1440p I"m running I'd expect an FPS drop, but...

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1000 Series (Pascal) MegaThread: FAQ and Resources

I've been away from this thread for a couple of months, checking back in and I'm dismayed there's still no info for the 1080 ti :( Has there been anything besides speculation for the incoming ti?

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1000 Series (Pascal) MegaThread: FAQ and Resources

I've been away from this thread for a couple of weeks so this might have been brought up or discussed elsewhere...but now that I've scoured just about all the reviews I can find for the 1070s and 1080s it seems that, once overclocked, the performance is virtually identical since they all top out...

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1000 Series (Pascal) MegaThread: FAQ and Resources

https://youtu.be/mWcsaociTjE This is a very interesting video from hardware unboxed about the high bandwidth sli bridge. From his results it appears it does actually make a difference, but only on some titles at 4k under max settings. To me, this seems like there aren't really any games out...

    GTX 1080 on 1440p 144hz G-Sync TN vs 4K 60hz IPS?

I play on a 1440p gsync monitor using a 980 sli setup, and on most games average between 70-100 fps. To me, this is the sweet spot because a: 1440p is a big enough upgrade over 1080p that you def notice it, b: once fps gets above 90ish I really can't tell much of a difference anyway and c...

the gtx 1080 supports G Sync?

Gsync hardware is in the monitor itself, not the card. I believe compatibility for all nvidia cards goes back several generations to like the 4xx series at least. I'm using a 1440p gsync monitor at 144hz and I will never not use adaptive refresh rate ever again.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1000 Series (Pascal) MegaThread: FAQ and Resources

This is from the article techpowerup did on the 1080 sli, they tested the new high bandwidth bridge next to the older style bridges: "We took a special look at that, comparing performance of the classic SLI bridge with the HB bridge at up to 4K60Hz, and there is no significant difference in...
