[SOLVED] My house is wired for Ethernet! That's about as much as I remember from my networking classes twenty years ago...

Yeah, I figured that'd be the case. The Nest mesh network only works if it's in router mode. I guess I'll try to run it as a second LAN and if that causes issues I'll switch it to bridge mode and just ditch the secondary end point. Thanks, all!

[SOLVED] My house is wired for Ethernet! That's about as much as I remember from my networking classes twenty years ago...

Everyone here has been extremely helpful and I'm very excited to go setup my home network. I do have one final question. Could my Google (turns our it's a Nest Wifi router) Wifi router can act as a second LAN on my home network and keep the wireless? So I add a router with one gateway IP...

[SOLVED] My house is wired for Ethernet! That's about as much as I remember from my networking classes twenty years ago...

Ahh, totally get the second issue. When you say unsnap the telephone keystone and snap in the RJ-45 keystone, I still need to remove the cable from the telephone keystone and then krimp it into the RJ-45 keystone, right? Also, that expansion board looks awesome. The alternative, as I now...

[SOLVED] My house is wired for Ethernet! That's about as much as I remember from my networking classes twenty years ago...

I thought that may be the case. So, and I'm just speculating here, what I need to do is: Buy a wire stripper, a bag of a RJ-45s, a bag of keystones, and probably some Cat 6 or Cat 5 cable. Possibly some new faceplates for the keystones. In each room (with the exception of kitchen) remove the...

[SOLVED] My house is wired for Ethernet! That's about as much as I remember from my networking classes twenty years ago...

TL;DR: Fiber internet guy set up one port in my house to use for a wired connection. I know (picture below) that I could wire all my ports fairly easily - I just don't know what hardware I'll need and how to best do it. I have, in what feels like a past life now, stripped ethernet and krimped...

[SOLVED] Brand new build won't post!

Bleh - I eventually figured it out. I used the manual Q-Flash option and it worked after I ignored the Aorus guide and just put the entire extracted zip archive on a flash drive. If anyone else runs into this you have to wait like 30 minutes for it to start working.

[SOLVED] Brand new build won't post!

I have an Aorus B550 Master along with a Ryzen 5800x, and every time I attempt to boot it on it gets the following loop of error codes: 14 -> 15 -> d8 -> d6 -> 02 -> 51 (hangs for a bit)... It also flashes a few other numbers that I think are fine. The DRAM and VGA LEDs alternate also. Most...

Question How should I mount my H115i in my Corsair Obsidian Series 750D?

Here's what I'm thinking of doing. I'm really not sure if it'd be beneficial to buy an extra fan for the following potential extra intake (arrows in red box): View: https://imgur.com/a/apa0vZ5

Question How should I mount my H115i in my Corsair Obsidian Series 750D?

Hello! I've recently gone all out on a new PC with an RTX 3090 and Ryzen 5800x. Per suggestions made on this forum, I'm using a Corsair H115i to keep the processor cool. It's my understanding that you typically use fans on the front as intake and fans on the top/back as exhaust. But the manual...

[SOLVED] Snagged a 3090 and need advice for the rest of the PC

Thank you so much! I updated the memory and cooler. Would you think that's an adequate system to make use of a Ryzen 5900 and RTX 3090?

[SOLVED] Snagged a 3090 and need advice for the rest of the PC

I work as a software developer and play a lot of computer games. Plus I have an Index and will most likely jump on the next few generations of VR, so I'm looking for something powerful. I don't want to spend more than $3,000 more (not counting the GPU). I tried adding random things based on...
