It should run fine at medium to high settings at 1080. What is your ultimate aim from the system? Are you upgrading or a new build for example

Are both your fans plugged into the cpu fan header on your motherboard? If so you can use msi afterburner to control your fans

To be honest I'd just stick to speccy or open hardware monitor, simple and easy to use.

I think you will be fine as long as you keep a regular backup of your most important files you can run the risk of running the hard drive. I would be more concerned if both programmes indicated a problem with the hard drive

Have you changed any settings in the bios? I would advise running bios if so and resetting values to default. Other options could include removing your battery if possible to ensure it is fully shutdown.

Order you should use your cables top to bottom: Displayport(DP), Hdmi, DVI and lastly vga only if there is no other option
